"What is your time and wellness worth?"

What is medical and orthopedic massage?

At Healing Massage Therapy we use orthopedic tests to determine the source of your pain syndrome.  We specialize in nerve entrapment syndromes.  Massachusetts has 6300 licensed Massage Therapists.  However,  less than 30 are  orthopedically certified Massage Therapists.   All of our therapists are trained or certified in Orthopedic Assessment for Massage Therapy. We are professionals who have degrees or certification  in  Nursing, Psychiatry and Mental Health,  Physical Education, Athletic Training,  Personal training and  Physical Therapy. We are able to provide massage therapy to people  with a significant health history.  A diagonisis from your doctor is not necessary.  However,  we are able to work with your physician, chiropractor, osteopath, or other healthcare provider to meet your goals.  Our goal is to decrease the need for long-term medical or  even  worse   surgical intervention.  Is your health care provider giving you prescriptions?  Talking about injections? Surgery is not always the answer. We successfully  treat the following pain syndromes:

Repetitive use Injuries

Pre-surgical preparation

Post-surgical pain syndromes

Nerve entrapment Syndromes

Back Pain: Radiculopathy

Neck Pain:  Bulging Discs

Sciatica and Piriformis Syndrome

Frozen Shoulder/Adhesive Capsulitis

Thoracic Outlet Syndrome

Biceptal Tendinosis

Medial and Lateral Epicondylitis

Radial Tunnel Syndrome

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Cubital Tunnel Syndrome

Sacroiliac  Joint Dysfunction

Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome

Iliotibial Band Friction Syndrome

Parasthetica Meralgia

Temporal Mandibular Joint Dysfunction

Plantar Fascitis

Before your treatment begins you will receive an individualized needs assessment and are offered massage treatment options based on continuous assessment.

During your treatment:

  • we use  heated comfort craft hydraulic tables to take your spine out of compression
  • we use active isolated stretching techniques to increase range of motion
  • we use myofascial, triggerpoint, hydrotherapy, pin and stretch, muscle energy technique, post-isometric relaxation, reciprocal inhibition, cryotherapy and neuro-muscular techniques

After your treatment massages are followed by post-session teaching to assess and instruct the client on findings and self-care methods to promote health and facilitate function.
